Less than two weeks from race day and things are getting busy here at race central. Lots of entries are coming in and the half-marathon field has some very strong contenders. Some final course clean-up is being done, flagging of the course will start this week, meeting with the conservation committees, etc!

We had a great turn-out last weekend for the test running of the course with twelve people checking it out on what was the wettest day we have seen all summer (of course). While the rock, roots and bridges were slick, and the clouds hid the views, it was a great time and people loved the course. Thanks for all that came!

Shirts have been ordered and while the first 50 have been gone for about a week, I did order a few extra that will be available for sale ($15) on race day for those who wish to purchase them. They are great looking technical shirts and while I wish everyone could have gotten one, it was a trade-off made to keep the quality of the shirts up while keeping race entry fees down for all.

Bring a friend! Don't forget we have a 5K course, the Blueberry Bumble. And volunteers are still needed! If your friend would have more fun being on course than waiting around at the finish line, please send an email to
[email protected] . We will find a way to get them involved in the fun!

I am delighted to have Gator-Bait Gators on board as a prize sponsor for the race. THANK YOU to Emily Trespas, the creative genius behind these imaginative and beautifully designed gaiters (and locally made by hand by her!). I know you have seen and admired them on the race course, now check out how these gaiters are created at http://gatorbaitgaiters.blogspot.com/  There will be prizes in both the Men's and Women's races in the Highbush Half-Marathon.

Now, who took my blueberries....

Test out the course on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at 8:30am. A group run of the course will be offered with two groups going out- a somewhat faster group and a nobody left behind group. Actually, nobody will be left behind in either group but please seed yourself according to your fitness level and trail running ability. We may do the entire course or a shortened lop of about 11 miles depending on feedback we get. If you are interested, please email me at [email protected]  I will send you a confirmation of the meeting place and time.

Keep in mind this is a simple group run- nothing is sanctioned, there will be no support, insurance, etc. Run at your own risk and be prepared to carry food and water for 3-ish hours of running. There course is not yet flagged so there will be a run leader but otherwise you need
to stick with the group.

The race shirts are nearly ready to be ordered and they look awesome! These are technical shirts and go to the first 50 registered runners in the Greenfield Trail Races. There are just a couple left so sign up quickly if having one of these first annual shirts is important to you! I will be ordering a few extras for volunteers and if any are left over they will be offered for sale at the race.
